According to fiber weaving mode and structural characteristics, carbon fiber prepreg is mainly divided into three categories, which are applicable to different manufacturing scenarios and performance requirements:
1. Unidirectional (UD) Carbon Fiber Prepreg
UD prepreg adopts single-direction arranged carbon fiber tows, with all fibers aligned in the same direction. It has extremely high directional tensile strength and modulus, and is the best choice for bearing unidirectional load structural parts. It is widely used in aerospace structural parts, automobile chassis parts, sports equipment stress parts and other scenarios requiring high directional rigidity .
2. Woven Carbon Fiber Prepreg
Commonly including plain weave and twill weave, woven prepreg has cross-woven fiber structure with balanced bidirectional mechanical properties, good flexibility and moldability. It is easy to adapt to complex curved surface molds, with beautiful and regular surface texture. It is mostly used for product exterior decorative parts, appearance parts of automotive and motorcycle, and medium-load structural parts .
3. Multiaxial Carbon Fiber Prepreg
Multiaxial prepreg is composed of multi-layer fibers arranged at different angles, with comprehensive multi-directional stress resistance, high structural stability and strong impact resistance. It is suitable for high-load complex structural parts such as large aerospace components and rail transit equipment .
